The Horrifying Murder of Ann Harrison (Case of Ann Harrison)
On March 22, 1989, after a night of "fun", that included drugs and stealing a car, 22- year-old Michael Taylor and 24-year-old Rodrick Nunley, high on cocaine were driving in their stolen car when they spotted 15-year-old Ann Harrison waiting at her school bus stop.
Taylor said that he wanted to steal Harrison's purse, so Nunley stopped the car, and Taylor grabbed Harrison's purse and forced her into the car. They drove the car to Nunley's mother house. The two men forced Ann Harrison out of the car and forced her into the basement. At some point, Taylor sexual assualted the young girl.
After the assault, the men forced Ann Harrison back into the car and tied her up. They decided to kill her to prevent her from identifying them in the future. Nunley retrieved two knives, that both of the men used to stab her.
The men drove to a nearby neighborhood and parked the car, leaving Harrison in the trunk of the car. A medical examiner said that Harrison remained conscious about ten minutes after the stabbing. The crime had went unsolved for about six months until a $10,000 reward finally led to a tip, and both of the men were finally arrested.
Taylor and Nunley indicated that they were willing to plead guilty to first degree murder of the crime, however, this offer was rejected by the prosecution. Hoping for leniency from the court, both men pleaded guilty and each said that the murder was the others idea, however, this didn't work and both men were sentenced to death.
Michael Taylor was executed on February, 26, 2014 at the age of 47. He declined a final meal and was instead, given potato soup and a sandwich. Taylor had no final words.
On September 2, 2015, Rodrick Nunley was executed at the age of 50. His last meal was a steak dinner, with shrimp, chicken strips, salad and a slice of cheesesteak. Nunley had no last words, but expressed remorse in an interview, before execution for this horrendous crime.
